Ultra high voltage cables are often forced to reduce their transmission capacity due to the breakdown and damage of the outer protective layer caused by overvoltage of the metal sheath. In order to reduce the overvoltage of the sheath to ground and avoid the breakdown of the outer protective layer, voltage limiting devices, namely protective layer protectors, are commonly used to ensure the reliable operation of the cable. Cable protective layer protectors have gone through the evolution history from spark gaps, silicon carbide valve plate protective layer protectors, to metal oxide protective layer protectors. In recent years, due to improvements in raw material formulations and manufacturing processes, the performance of domestic metal oxide protective layer protectors is gradually improving, and compared with many protective layer protectors imported with cables from abroad, the level has reached or even exceeded.

Single core power cable protective layer overvoltage protection technology is used to prevent multi-point grounding faults of cable metal protective layer caused by lightning overvoltage and internal overvoltage. The cable sheath protector reduces the overvoltage of the sheath to ground, ensuring reliable transmission of large capacity cables.

The cable sheath protector is applied in single core power cable lines to limit the induced overvoltage on the metal sheath of the cable, ensuring that the insulation of the protective layer is not broken down by overvoltage. This product can be used in grounded cable lines and cross connected cable lines.
